About
About our foodbank
Here is an introduction to our project.
Abergavenny Foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area.
We receive financial and food donations from individuals, churches, organisations, charities and businesses.
The Foodbank became part of Abergavenny Baptist Church (ABC) in 2019. Since that time, the Foodbank has grown in many ways. We are seeing more clients and giving out more emergency food parcels. The number of referral agencies has increased. We are delivering extra services including the provision of financial and debt advice in partnership with Citizens Advice. In addition to this, we are operating in a much more challenging environment with the impact of the rise in cost of living that has affected our clients and us in so many different ways.
The trustees of ABC considered all these issues and felt that the Foodbank would benefit from more focus from the trustees. With the support of the church, it was agreed that a separate charity should be created to strategically manage the foodbank.
The new charity is still called Abergavenny Foodbank. We received our Charity Commission Registration on 31st October 2026. Our registration number is 1215581. We took over the management of the foodbank on 1st April 2026.
